The Fate of Cable 8
Cable 8 was once a creative hub situated in Beijing’s CBD. I vaguely remember stumbling upon the space during my first year in China; unfortunately, I never made it back. All that now remains of the once-dynamic creative center is a pile of rubble. Combined with the sanitation of ‘trendy’ areas such as Nanluoguxiang, and the commercialization of the once-interesting 798 complex, one can’t help but wonder about the fate of creative spaces in Beijing, as well as the communities they harbour.
