Launched in 2009 by Nathan Zhang, brandnü is an ethical trade network that works in partnership with China’s socially-conscious designers and artists to help re-design rural livelihoods by offering support, resources and better access to urban markets. Nathan has been working with fashion designers Sarah Yun and Zhang Na on an upcycled fashion project since 2011 and recently sent in photos of their latest collaboration.

Dong Liang Studio

Dong Liang Studio was founded by Charles Wang and Nan Lang in 2009. With stores located in both Beijing and Shanghai, the concept is to sell high quality, limited edition fashion whilst, simultaneously, promoting a small collective of handpicked local designers. Sarah Yun

Originally from Inner Mongolia, Sarah Yun studied fashion at Raffles Design School before moving to London for further study at Central Saint Martins. Her first fashion show, part of Beijing Fashion Design Association, was held in 2006 at Beijing Imperial City Gallery. Since 2009, Sarah has actively worked alongside charities such as Caisangzi and brandnü. She established her own brand in Beijing earlier this year; stockists include Dong Liang Studio and Boutique Palma, Nali Patio.
